Challenge

The Maple Leaf Farms duck processing facility had undergone years of patchwork repairs, but persistent leaks, vegetation growth, and poor insulation performance signaled it was time for a complete roofing replacement. Maintaining strict sanitation standards was critical in the facility’s food processing zones, and the new system needed to deliver reliable protection—without shutting down operations.

Solution

Siplast provided a high-performance solution tailored to meet the facility’s operational needs and sanitation standards:

  • Insulation and drainage without disruption
After removing the original coal tar and BUR systems, a Siplast lightweight insulating concrete solution was poured to deliver proper slope-to-drain and provide sufficient R-value, while allowing installation to proceed without having to shut down operations.
  • Long-term protection for food processing facility
The Siplast Paradiene® 20/30 SBS-modified bitumen system was installed to provide multi-layer durability and long-term performance, while the lightweight insulating concrete provided moisture control to help meet the facility’s sanitary needs.
  • A smarter roofing investment
The new roofing system replaced years of reactive maintenance with a purpose-built solution, helping to protect structural integrity and promote smooth operations into the future.

The completed roof gave Maple Leaf Farms the reliable protection and insulation performance needed for critical food production—delivering a clean break from years of ongoing repairs.
