Challenge
The busy Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City was in need of a multi-faceted reroofing solution. The project's goals included addressing existing leaks and helping realize the client's vision of becoming a role model for environmental leadership to the exhibition industry globally.
Solution
- Removed existing overburden and waterproofing materials
- Installed Siplast Paradiene 20 EG TG over a gypsum-based sheathing panel as temporary waterproofing that allowed an extensive HVAC retrofit and quickly dried-in the structure
- Provided slope-to-drain and thermal value with the Siplast NVS Lightweight Insulating Concrete System
- Completed waterproofing with a mechanically-attached Siplast Parabase FS base sheet, torch-applied Paradiene 20 HV TG, and a finish ply of Siplast Teranap
- Included extensive vegetated roof system, and pavers for high-traffic areas
