PA-100 Interply Mopping Asphalt

Siplast PA-100 Asphalt is a specially processed interply mopping asphalt designed for use with guaranteed Siplast roof systems. It is made from high quality asphalts that are oxidized to meet the adhesive requirements for SBS-modified bitumen roof applications. PA-100 Asphalt meets or exceeds ASTM D 312 Type IV requirements. PA-100 Asphalt application temperatures should not be below the EVT range for mopping, and should at all times maintain a minimum temperature of 400°F (204°C) at the point of contact with the roofing sheet being applied. Physical characteristics for PA-100 are as follows:

  • Softening point: 210°-225°F (99°-107°C)
  • Maximum heating temperature: 525°F (274°C)
  • Flash point: minimum 575°F (302°C)
  • EVT @ 125 cps: 425° ± 25°F (218° ± 14°C)

PA-100 Asphalt must be used on all Siplast extended guarantee jobs applied with hot asphalt.

All mopping layers must be total in coverage, without breaks or voids. Care should be taken not to exceed our recommended mopping weight of 25 pounds per ply square or 50 mils (1.3 mm) thick.

Any use of Type IV asphalt provided by another manufacturer on regular term guarantees must be approved in advance by the Siplast Laboratory.

Asphalt containers or bulk shipping tickets should indicate the Equiviscous Temperature (EVT), the Softening Point (SP), and the Flash Point (FP). If EVT and heating information are not provided, the following asphalt temperatures for Type IV are recommended:

  • Maximum heating temperature, 525°F (274°C) or flash point less 25°F (14°C), whichever is lower. Asphalt must not be heated above the FP.
  • Minimum application temperature measured at the point of contact with the roofing sheet being applied is 400°F (204°C).

PA-1000 Polymer Modified Mopping Asphalt

Siplast PA-1000 is an elastomeric, interply mopping asphalt designed for use with guaranteed Siplast roof systems. PA-1000 is a modified bitumen material blending heat resistant polymers with chemically matched asphalt to meet the high performance requirements for Siplast SBS-modified bitumen roof applications. The heat resistant polymeric design of PA-1000 lends demonstrably higher performance characteristics than any standard ASTM D 312 product. PA-1000 meets or exceeds ASTM D 6152 requirements.
